Full Send
$85
A limited edition, signed, giclee reproduction of Duane Keiser's painting, “Full Send.”
I got the incredible opportunity to watch the Artemis II lift off from the Kennedy Space Center. As I watched the plume drift over the launch pad and remembered to breathe again, I realized I had just witnessed something awesome. I mean that in the older sense of the word: something vast, powerful, and almost beyond comprehension. As Reid Wiseman, the mission commander, posted while looking at Earth through the porthole of the Orion, “there are no words.”
In response, I made this small painting, titled Full Send for my A Painting a Day project. “Full Send” is what Wiseman said to Mission Control moments before launch. This is not the kind of subject people usually associate with my work, but A Painting a Day has always grown out of whatever I find myself noticing, thinking about, or moved by from one day to the next.
